Hi, I’m Simon
I’m an English teacher living in rural northern Germany, where I moved in 2020. I teach a variety of students from beginner to advanced level, face-to-face and online, specialising in Business English and exam preparation. I hold TEFL and CELTA Pass A qualifications, and I have experience as an examiner and TEFL assessor.
Before teaching, I spent over twenty years in retail, customer service and training - running my own business, chairing a local retail association, and working with household names from Waitrose and Debenhams to Topman and Topshop. I’ve also trained and developed apprentices and delivered learning across large organisations. It’s a broad background, and it shapes how I teach today.
I know what it’s like to be a student, because I am one. I’m studying English with the Open University, developing my German skills, while also finding time to paint.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life is full of change. Moving to Germany was a big one, and I’m still finding my way through it. I’ll be sharing some of that here - language, life and whatever else comes up along the way.
